Student Devices in the Senior School - 2027

Please read the information below carefully then complete the form at the end to choose the student device option that best suits your child for 2027. This form must be completed for every student who will be in the Senior School in 2027, by Friday 4 September 2026.

In 2026 Ƶ moved to a School Managed Device (SMD) model with Apple-based devices. For years 7-12, the SMD model comprises of a choice of either a school-owned School Managed Device, or a parent-supplied School Managed Device.

School Managed or BYOD?

It is important to note that from January 2028 onwards, all students (except for current Year 10 2026 cohort, who will be in Year 12 in 2028) will have school-owned, or parent-supplied School Managed Devices.

Until December 2027 students are allowed to continue using the BYOD model if they wish.

Already Have a School-Owned School Managed Device?

If you chose Option 1(a) for the MacBook Air M4 for the 2026 school year, your device will automatically roll over to the 2027 school year, with the same annual levy of $600. Please indicate on the that you will be continuing with your school-owned School Managed Device.  There is no need to do anything further.

Already Have a Parent-Supplied School Managed Device?

If you want to continue in 2027 with your current parent-supplied School Managed Device, please advise this on the .  There is no need to do anything further.  If you have purchased a new device, please see Option 1(b) for information on when to deliver your device to the school.


Student Device Options for Years 7-12 2027

The following options are available for students in Years 7-12 for 2027:

  • School Managed Device (Either School-Owned or Parent-Supplied)
  • Parent Supplied BYOD Device

Detailed information about each option can be found below:

This is available to students in Years 7-12 only.

  • Students will lease for 3 years a school-owned Apple MacBook and can choose from the following devices. A levy will be applied to school fees for each of the 3 years to lease and manage these devices:

(We recommend that students in upper years doing D&T or Music opt for the MacBook Air).

  • Specific software (apps) will be installed on the device and will ensure year/age specific internet filters are active.
  • Students will use their Oxley email address as their Apple ID and app downloads will be restricted to school-approved apps only. No personal Apple IDs can be used.
  • After a three-year lease, the MacBook will be returned to the school and will be replaced with another leased MacBook.

Devices will be available for collection on the first day of Term 1, 2027.

Repairs and Support

  • All devices will have AppleCare+ insurance. This is included in the levy.
  • Accidental damage repair costs are the responsibility of the user. If accidental damage has been incurred, Oxley will invoice the parents via FACTS for the physical repair cost under AppleCare+ pricing:

MacBook Air AppleCare+ Pricing:

Accidental damage repair for a broken screen is $149. 
Accidental damage repair for other damage is $429.

MacBook Neo AppleCare+ Pricing:

Accidental damage repair for a broken screen is $79.
Accidental damage repair for other damage is $249.

  • For School-Owned devices the student will drop the faulty device off at the Oxley Helpdesk. They will be given a loan device while theirs is being repaired. Oxley Helpdesk will then send the broken device to EduCom IT who will manage all Apple repairs end-to-end.

DEVICE MUST BE DELIVERED TO OXLEY BY 15 JANUARY 2027 TO ENSURE ALL ONBOARDING IS COMPLETED BEFORE THE START OF THE YEAR.

This is available to students in Years 7-12 only.

Parents will need to purchase one of the following devices:

(We recommend that students in upper years doing D&T or Music opt for the MacBook Air).

  • Devices can be purchased from any recommended retailer of Apple devices. Oxley recommends purchasing an Apple device from our Apple authorised reseller EduCom IT. Please visit for the specified devices. Devices purchased from EduCom IT will be directly entered into the Oxley School Managed Device (SMD) system.
  • If you are not purchasing via EduCom, families must also purchase a hardshell case for their device.
  • There is no levy for this option.
  • Specific software (apps) will be installed on the device and will ensure year/age specific internet filters are active.
  • Students will use their Oxley email address as their Apple ID and app downloads will be restricted to school-approved apps only. No personal Apple IDs can be used.

Repairs and Support

  • Parents can opt to have the device repaired by EduCom IT, or another licensed Apple repairer. If opting for EduCom IT repair service, students can drop their devices off at the Oxley IT Helpdesk and be issued with a replacement device for the duration of the repair. EduCom IT will review the device and work directly with you, the parents to repair or replace, depending on warranty, AppleCare+ status, and the age of the device. Once repaired, the device will be returned to the school, and the student will swap the devices back.
  • Oxley highly recommends that families purchase AppleCare+ for Parent Supplied Devices, as this will significantly reduce repair costs.  For example, a non-warranty screen repair for a MacBook Neo will cost around $600 and for a MacBook Air will cost around $900.

MacBook Air Apple Care+ Pricing ($329 for 3 years coverage):

Accidental damage repair for a broken screen is $149.
Accidental damage repair for other damage is $429.

MacBook Neo Apple Care + Pricing ($259 for 3 years coverage):

Accidental damage repair for a broken screen is $79.
Accidental damage repair for other damage is $249.

If you have not opted to purchase via EduCom IT with delivery direct to Oxley, please present the device to the Oxley ICT department to be uploaded with the specific software required by January 15, 2027.

DEVICE MUST BE DELIVERED TO OXLEY BY 15 JANUARY 2027 TO ENSURE ALL ONBOARDING IS COMPLETED BEFORE THE START OF THE YEAR.

This is available to students in Years 7-12 only.

Parents will need to supply:

Apple MacBook Air (M1-M5) OR

Apple MacBook Neo with 8GB Ram, 512GB Storage

  • This device will need to be factory reset in order to be entered into the Oxley School Managed Device (SMD) system.
  • Present the factory-reset device to the Oxley ICT department to be uploaded with the specific software required. If you require assistance resetting your device please contact the ICT Department, details below.
  • Specific software (apps) will be installed on the device and will ensure year/age specific internet filters are active.
  • Students will use their Oxley email address as their Apple ID and app downloads will be restricted to school-approved apps only.
  • There is no levy for this option.

Repairs and Support

  • Parents can opt to have their device repaired by EduCom IT or an independent repairer at their own expense.

Oxley highly recommends that families have AppleCare+ for Parent Supplied Devices, as this will significantly reduce your repair costs. For example, a non-AppleCare+ screen repair will cost around $600 for a MacBook Neo, and $900 for a MacBook Air.

  • This allows students to bring their current device, and it will not be managed by the school.
  • If you wish to purchase a new BYOD Apple device (MacBook Air M5 with 16GB Ram and 512GB Storage or MacBook Neo A18 with 8GB Ram and 512GB storage), Oxley highly recommends purchasing AppleCare+ as this will significantly reduce repair costs.
  • If you wish to use an existing Apple device, the recommended specifications are:

Apple MacBook Air (M1-M5) with 16GB Ram and 256GB/512GB Storage

Apple MacBook Neo with 8GB Ram and 512GB Storage

  • If you wish to use an existing PC device until 2028, the recommended specifications are:

Windows 11 PC with 16GB Ram and 256GB Storage.

From 2028, all students will be moved into Option 1 - School Managed Device (either school-owned or parent-supplied).


PARENTS ARE ASKED TO COMPLETE THIS FORM BY FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2026

We request that all families from Year 6-11, 2026 complete the form below for each child by Friday 4 September 2026.  This will allow time for the ICT Department to organise the purchase of new laptops for 2027.
